The only novel mentioned by title in the “Little House” series is in On the Banks of Plum Creek when Laura is trying to convince Ma that she doesn’t really have to go to school because she can already read.

She really can’t, but has heard Ma read aloud from Millbank by Mary J. Holmes so often that she has the beginning at least memorized. The author’s name isn’t mentioned in the. Open Library is an open, editable library catalog, building towards a web page for every book ever published.

"Holloway" is a hollow way, a sunken path. A route that centuries of foot-fall, hoof-hit, wheel-roll and rain-run have harrowed deep down into bedrock. In JulyRobert Macfarlane and Roger Deakin - author of Wildwood - traveled to explore the holloways of South Dorset's sandstone/5(58).

"Millbank" is a Gothic novel first published in Squire Irving has just died and left his entire estate to his surviving son Roger. But his greedy daughter-in-law believes there is a later will, disinheriting Roger in favor of her son Frank/5(6).

An interesting subject of Holloways in South Dorset which in my personal opinion were probably used as hideouts for smugglers and the like and still hold the atmosphere or interesting subject but sadly a very short ful sketches but I sadly found the book over priced for approx 40 to keep hold of though on ones 4/5().

It was a fluff book and very melodramatic (it seemed that every few pages someone was crying), but I ended up enjoying it (on a hour plane ride). Though its a rated G book, I am surprised that prim and proper Ma read a book to her children that included drinking, infidelity, This novel from was the only work of fiction in Laura Ingalls /5.

In fact, possibly a little too at home; Macfarlane's visits to the holloways of south Dorset are essentially a rehash of the trip he made for his book, The Wild Places, with Roger Deakin. I have a copy of LTC Rolt's 'Holloways of Millbank, The First Seventy-Five Years' published for the company in As the book is not widely available, L. Rolt is a highly respected author, and the material is mostly historical and non-contentious, I thought it helpful to summarise some of its content, though in an entirely different.

The plates and the type were inked, thick wove paper was bought, the pages were printed, sewn up and limp-bound, and lo. – the lump of lead had become a book. Photograph: PR Facebook Twitter.

Millbank by Holmes, Mary J. and a great selection of related books, is clean, red cloth, past down picture is missing from the front cover, cover has edge wear and some fraying and the book is a little shaken but not that bad.
